Brazilian Land Force in the 21st Century: political, strategic and organizational reflections on force design in a changing world

Abstract

This project aims to produce subsidies that support the composition of the future force design of the Brazilian Army, given the internal and external challenges faced by the Land Force as well as Brazil. A complex international scenario leads to reflections on how the Army should be prepared but, at the same time, national issues end up imposing missions on the Force that conflict with traditional visions of preparation for war, such as supporting Civil Defense in disasters, promoting national development and internal security actions. Meet such a complex equation and have an effective force design, which can be capable of producing a Ground Force capable of responding to it. Thus, we will seek a cooperative approach between civilians, military and policymakers in order to shed light that contributes to political, strategic and organizational solutions, economically viable for a new design for the Brazilian Land Force, without the intention of exhausting such a complex subject. Only through cooperative reflection between the most diverse key actors in the process will it be possible to produce lasting responses to the Brazilian Army's force design.
